URBANNEWS.ID – Riau Community Leader, Helmi Burman who is also the former Chairman of PWI Riau, urged PT Chevron Pacific Indonesia (CPI) President Director Albert Simanjuntak to fulfill his promise to solve the problem of B3 waste and oil contaminated land in all working areas of the Rokan Block in Riau Province.

As is known, the operator managing the Rokan Block will switch from PT CPI to PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan as of August 8, 2021. Practically, there are only two months before PT CPI ‘leave’ from the Rokan Block.

Meanwhile, in its official letter to the Minister of Environment and Forestry on April 20, 2021, the Riau Environment Agency stated that until April 16, 2021, the number of complaints or environmental disputes due to land contaminated with petroleum was 297.

There are 147 environmental complaints or disputes that have been verified in the field by the Riau Environment and Forestry Service, and as many as 150 complaints or disputes have not been verified.

“We urge Mr. Albert Simanjuntak to keep the promise he made at the Indonesian House of Representatives last year. Because CPI should not bequeath waste to the descendants of the Riau people in the future,” said Helmi, Thursday (3/6/2021).

Helmi further said that Albert Simanjuntak’s statement of promise in front of members of the Indonesian House of Representatives was a promise from the leadership of a world-class company before the state institutions of the Republic of Indonesia.
